I received a much anticipated invite to strawberryj.am this weekend and am super excited about this tool (even though I’m about six months late to the party).
Strawberryj.am is a tool that searches Twitter for most popular links by topic, hashtag, user or list. Think of it a tool to dig down into trending topics by customer segment. The creators (Hettema and Bergsten – check out their site for other cool tools!) envision it as a way for you to see the most popular (thus relevant) links. Where I see this tool being useful is for the community manager that is wants to add viral content to their stream.
I tested it out this weekend by queuing ten posts from Strawberryj.am into Timely, and in each instance saw higher than usual click-through than my normal posts. A small cohort but I have no doubt that a larger cohort would produce similar results.
It has a really cool interface, and is simple to use. It’s free and has some neat bells and whistles like a widget (see below) and the capability to design an RSS feed for your search (I imagine this + Google Reader could make for some quick curation). It is in invite
Particularly for businesses that post or tweet sparingly and need to generate a ton of interest with each tweet – strawberryj.am may be a cool tool to help you share more interesting content with your audience.

Nice post Jim, I am going to check it out. It sounds very useful. These are all tools in the toolbelt of the social savvy person. Thanks.
Cheers, Ross. If you have any issues I have some invites and am happy to send you one! Cheers!
I just got it too! I was wondering what the difference was between the Timely and the buffer app, when it comes to scheduling tweets to a queue? I really haven’t had much time checking it out, so was curious on what you thought. I do like the widget a lot! I like it much better than Summify. Thank you Jim! Lisa
Thanks Lisa for reading and for your comment!
Conceptually the difference between Timely and Buffer is that Timely chooses your tweet times for you and you determine what times Buffer posts. Timely is also limited to nine posts per day, where theoretically Buffer could do 1000. Buffer is much more robust, but for a simple experiment like that it was easy to pop those tweets into Timely.
I never really got into Summify, but agree that the widget is pretty special – and I love the feed feature as well! Cheers!
Jim,
Thanks for the info. I think I’m on the list to receive an invite to strawberryj.am, but there are so many tools and networks coming out all the time….I may have lost track.
I appreciate your notes relative to Timely. I’ve used it, and like it. But I hope from similar tools and back again.
Toast to you,
~keri
Thanks so much Keri! I sent you an invite to strawberryj.am, so I hope you get a chance to have a go and see if it is a tool that would be useful to you! Cheers! Jim
