One of the coolest tools that I haven’t spent enough time with is ifttt (it stands for “if this then that”).
Ifttt is a tool that allows you to trigger actions within your digital footprint based upon other actions you take. For example, every time you post to your blog you could send out a tweet or post on Facebook. Some other prominent channels that you can associate: Gmail, YouTube, EverNote, Foursquare, Flickr, Tumblr, Instagram, LinkedIn, Posterous, WordPress (.com), SMS, your phone, and a whole host of others. (and it’s free)
I use it to post blog posts from my RSS feed to Twitter and my Facebook page, to post Instagram photos to my Facebook page, and to send myself text messages when I get tweets from certain people. The possibilities of this tools are huge, especially to automate some redundant actions. They also added a “recipe” functionality where you can publicly share your personal “tasks” with others.
I hope that if you haven’t tried out ifttt that you’ll take a look at it (and I hope it’s useful for you). If you are already using the ifttt tool, I’m curious to understand how you are using it and what your experience has been with it?
