Vine, Twitter’s mobile video app just added a feature allowing users to easily embed Vine posts onto their websites from mobile or the web. It’s pretty simple to do. Here’s how it works:

Embed Vine posts on mobile

For any post on the mobile app, if you push the “share” button you get three options: Facebook, Twitter and Embed (you would choose “embed”). The Vine app then drafts an email to you with a link that will create an embed code.

Once you get to the embed screen there are three size options: 600px, 480px and 320px and two style options: simple (no border) and postcard (stylized border). Here are two examples of the same clip of my daughter eating breakfast from many angles (sorry for the lack of originality, there!):

You can embed Vine posts with simple format:

Or you can embed Vine posts with postcard format:

The mobile feature is currently available for iOS only.

Embed Vine posts from the web

Since Vine doesn’t currently have individual profile pages on their site, the only way to embed Vine posts from the web is to find one you like on Twitter, Facebook or another site. In each instance, there will be a link that opens the Vine site in a new window.  At the bottom of that are the options “embed” and “Tweet” (notice the Facebook post is conspicuously absent). Click “embed” and you’re in business once again, left to determine the proper size and format to embed your Vine post.

I love Vine. I think people are doing some incredibly creative things with it. What do you think about Vine? Do you embed Vine posts on your site?

I aspire to give people something to think about rather than tell them what to do. My favorite Google Alert is "social media research," I am increasingly compelled by Gen Z, and I appreciate good writers agnostic of where they write. At one time I was Kred's 12th most influential social media blogger and Klout's most influential person on the topic of David Hasselhoff. Transplant from Seattle living in Cincinnati. Haven't entirely adopted the local sports teams yet.

    Jim,

Thanks for the heads up on Vine embed. I love the idea of Vine and making cool little 10 second videos, but have not quite come up with a great way to use them for myself.

    When I do… I will embed them.
