I wanted to key in on one of the highlighted statistics from this infographic, that companies with blogs get 55% more traffic. I’m surprised it was that low.
I sometimes point out to people that this site has far more traffic than the official Britney Spears site. You can extrapolate what you want from that, but I don’t think you can assert that I generate more interest or that I am as well known. But I publish a heck of a lot more content. Britney on the other hand publishes much more content on Twitter and Google Plus, just recently being usurped by Lady Gaga as the #2 most circled person on G+. So, she’s getting the traffic you would expect her to, just in a less traditional place.
The point being that fresh, topical information can drive a lot of traffic and contributes to the overall SEO of a site with eyeballs and links. We can’t all be Britney Spears (thank goodness – what would the world do with the overabundance of talent?) – but we can create interest around our products by publishing thoughtful content.
