I wrote yesterday about Wharton Professor Jonah Berger and his critique of Malcolm Gladwell. His book, Contagious: Why Things Catch On, has some pretty fantastic research on how content goes viral (condensed in the infographic below). As researchers like Berger and Harvard’s Thales Teixeira further our understand of what compels people to click and share content, it’s incumbent for marketers to keep up with their research. As Teixeira rightly points out, content consumption is relatively static compared to content generation, so there is only so much attention to go around.
Let me know what you think about this one.
